[Gai is opening his mouth to snap back a reply to that when a sudden stabbing pain shoots up his arm courtesy of the virus crystals that are covering it, transforming what he was going to say into a grunt of pain.]

[Shu can't see that well but it doesn't take his sight to realize that Gai either has the apocalypse virus or is injured severely.]
