[That's unexpected. Elizabeth squirms and gives a startled cry, then tries to grab Gai's hands to stop the tickling. She also tries to get out of range by, well, sliding closer to Gai. Whoops.]

[As fun as this may be, Elizabeth grabbing his hands gives him the message that maybe he needs to settle down a bit. She's probably tired, and he still needs to clean her up-- and speaking of tired, he's starting to feel pleasantly fuzzy himself.]

All right, all right, I'll stop. I brought the washcloth, just like I said I would.

[Shaking the blanket off, he holds it up to show her.]

Do you want me to take care of it, or would you rather do it yourself?

[Elizabeth pulls the blanket off as well, her hair going in all sorts of fun directions. She laughs and fixes her carnation.]

Oh... [Elizabeth looks at the cloth, surprised by Gai's offer. Well... that actually might be nice. Intimate and nice. And given Elizabeth is dead exhausted, she's fairly certain that her body would give up and scream if she even thought about another round.]

Is it... odd for one person to clean their partner? [She looks a bit bashful, but it's probably clear from her smile what she's thinking of asking for.]

[... oh. That's... ridiculously adorable. Gai's smile softens into something genuine and loving, but before she can ask him what he's looking at, he reaches out with his free hand to smooth her hair down.]

Not at all.

[At least, he doesn't think it's odd. Not that he really knows how two people behave in a relationship, but it seems like an intimate thing to do, and besides, he's the one responsible for it in the first place. Elizabeth shouldn't have to worry about doing any of the work, not after he's no doubt worn her out.]

Alright then. [She leans against the hand fixing her hair.] I think I'd like you to do it, then.

[She lays back down next to Gai and parts her legs again. It's probably going to look less awkward if Gai helps her too, now that she thinks about it. And even if Gai was gone for just a minute, Elizabeth wants to restore that close feeling they had right after they had finished.]

[Meanwhile, Gai settles himself on his side next to her and reaches down with the hand holding the washcloth. He starts out gently, just wiping her inner thighs clean, not wanting to venture too close to parts that are still no doubt very sensitive after all of that action. He wasn't exactly the most gentle and he knows it.]

Tell me if anything I do is uncomfortable.

Mm... [Elizabeth curls up close to Gai, closing her eyes and practically purring as Gai cleans her. It's very intimate, and it's very soothing. She nuzzles Gai's chest, enjoying the warmth that's radiating off of Gai's body.]

[Once he's certain that she's all right with it, he ventures a little higher. He keeps his touch light; the last thing he wants is to accidentally send the wrong message and make her think that he wants another round. Not that he wouldn't enjoy it, but he's pretty sure that she's too tired and sore to even think about doing it again.]

It doesn't hurt?

[The implication here is clear: Was I too rough?]

[She shakes her head against Gai's chest. No, it doesn't hurt and Gai hadn't been too rough.] It feels nice.

[Elizabeth opens her eyes and starts tracing the dips in Gai's abs with a finger. It seems appropriate. Little touches for little touches.] Are you sore too? Or are you just too strong for that sort of nonsense? [She grins.]

[... hey, he's trying to keep things from getting out of hand here, that is not fair. At least he isn't ticklish. Her questions do draw a laugh from him, though, no doubt allowing her to feel just how solid those muscles beneath her finger are.]

Not anymore I'm not.

[That joke might or might not go over her head, depending on what sort of romance novels she read. Although it's not really a joke if it's the truth... he was drawing on all of his self-control this evening before they finally got down to business.]

[Oh wow, yes. Though Elizabeth couldn't help but notice just how strong Gai was when he was holding her up and thrusting into her. Gai is... very strong...]

What do you mean? [Yes, it went right over her head. And now Elizabeth looks a little worried.] Did I... squeeze too hard?

[The fact that Elizabeth is both so intelligent and yet so innocent on some matters at the same time is something Gai finds to be incredibly endearing. She's always surprising him, and he loves it.

That question is so innocent and so sincere that he can't help but smile and bend down to brush a kiss against her lips. She's honestly concerned that she might have hurt him. That, to him, is one of the sweetest things he's ever heard.]

Not at all-- you felt incredible. But it wasn't easy for me to hold back, not when I wanted you so badly.

Oh... [Elizabeth blushes sweetly and kisses Gai too, just a soft brush against his lips.] Why did you hold back?

Because I wanted to make sure you got something out of it first.

[That was what this was all about, after all: making her happy.]

[That's the sweetest thing Elizabeth's ever heard. Not that she's got much to go off of, but Gai thinking about her first makes her heart flutter a little. She smiles and nuzzles against Gai's neck.]

I have the most thoughtful lover.

[Once he's satisfied that he's cleaned up the worst of things for the moment, he rolls just enough to set the washcloth aside on the nightstand before settling back down against her and slipping his arms around her to pull her close.]

You deserve to be happy, Elizabeth. And I'll do whatever I can to make that happen.

Well so do you. [She fits into Gai's arms easily, her own going around his back.] I want to make you happy too. ...did I do that tonight? [She's honestly wondering--anyone could probably get pleasure from sex no matter who they were with. Elizabeth has a feeling she made him happy, but she wants to hear it too.]

[Rather than answer that with words, Gai just slides his hand behind her head and pulls her in for a deep, passionate kiss. She did indeed make him happy-- the happiest he's ever been in his life, even beyond those few months he spent on Oshima. Yes, there he had a family, and a best friend, but there was always Keido's existence hanging over his head, the fear that he might be sent back to that lab. And the sort of love the Oumas had for him is love of a very different sort than what he has right now.

Elizabeth loves HIM. Him, with all of his flaws, with his inability to be normal, with all of the skeletons that he keeps securely locked in the closet. There's nothing that could possibly equate to this.

She loves him, and she accepts him. What could possibly make him happier than that?]

[Elizabeth had half-expected that sort of response, but she took it anyway. Gai made her feel unquestionably, completely loved. When she had been almost certain that everyone would be afraid of her for the rest of her life.]

[She kisses Gai back, deeply and passionately, stroking his hair as she does. Not that she's trying to start something again, but it feels right to be communicating this way.]

[When she pulls away, Elizabeth has to run her hand over Gai's cheek as though making sure he's still real. Which is silly, of course...]

Whatever happens here, no matter what I go through under any experiments, this is how I feel. This is how I'll always feel.

I know.

[He gives her a little squeeze, pulls her as close as possible. She feels comfortable and right in his arms, like she belongs there-- and a part of him can't help but feel that she does.

Gai has never thought about a future before. What was the point, when he knew he wouldn't have one? It would just have been a waste of time and gotten his hopes up all for nothing.

But now... now he does have the chance at a future, and just that thought is amazing and overwhelming at the same time.]

I love you.

[That, though, is one thing that he's certain of.]

[She smiles and cuddles up closer. She feels right in Gai's arms too, even if she's not wearing anything in another person's bed. It feels like the most natural thing in the world, though.]

[What Gai says also feels like the most natural thing. So it's easy for Elizabeth to respond.]

I love you too. [She wants a future too. She had nothing but time now, too. Now that she was far and away from Columbia.]

[Reluctantly he detaches one arm from around her just enough to tug that blanket he brought back over them both so that they don't end up getting chilled. Somehow, despite what he'd told her earlier, he's not at all concerned about her startling him in his sleep this time. This time, he feels relaxed and at ease.

This is definitely something he could get used to.]

Warm enough?

[She smiles, now thoroughly content with their situation. A blanket, Gai, his arms around her... she'll definitely fall asleep like this.]

Mm-hmm. [Elizabeth nods and hooks her ankle around Gai's. Just so every part of her is hugging him.]

[Now he shifts just a little, settling back against the pillows so that she's resting partially atop him. With the afterglow settling in, he's warm and pleasantly relaxed, and he knows it won't take him long to fall asleep either.

He can't think of anywhere else he'd rather be right now-- to him, this is pretty much perfection.]
