[There's a sharp edge to his voice now, a very clear indicator that he does not want to continue along this line of discussion. He's already said far more than he ever intended to and it's making him uncomfortable.]

[Gai you're scaring him and now he's crying. It scares him more since he doesn't understand the situation.]

Ugh. Fine. Carefully he takes a seat on the side of the bed; then, after a long moment of hesitation, he reaches out to tug Shu a little closer into an awkward one-armed hug. It's definitely not the best hug ever (it's more stiff than anything else), but the mere fact that Gai is hugging Shu rather than punching him speaks volumes.]

At least it's not a punch. Being called an idiot doesn't help with his self esteem issues and he knows. He does stupid things a lot.]

[Start awkwardly hugging him. He was too busy wiping away his tears so he didn't notice.]

[Gai squeezes just slightly as a warning for Shu to shut up and let him make himself feel less guilty by doing this. That's the real reason behind it-- that and getting Shu to be quiet.

Being hugged is kind of nice too so Shu will let Gai do whatever he wants.]

[... Shu isn't pulling away. Not as planned. Now he's going to have to be the one to let go first, which would be the equivalent of admitting to voluntarily hugging Shu and like hell he's going to do that.

So he'll just sit there because he's stubborn like that.]

[... and Shu's asleep. Shu actually fell asleep. This did not just happen. Why is it that in just a few short weeks in Asgard he's already experienced ten times the awkward that he did in all of his years in Funeral Parlor? Something is very wrong with this picture.

He could move the other, but that would risk waking him up, and Gai's not sure he wants to do that now that he finally got Shu to stop asking him questions. This really isn't a very comfortable position for him, though... maybe if he adjusts himself so he's leaning back against the pillows while he sits here...

Drool on him and you're dead, Shu.]

[Shu's completely oblivious to Gai's anguish per usual. He'll enjoy using you as a head rest in the mean time. He might be drooling on himself but not on Gai. He's safe...for now.]

[Looks like Gai is stuck here for the time being whether he likes it or not. (Hint: he doesn't.) But Shu is awfully warm when he's leaning against Gai like that and it's hard for him to keep from getting drowsy as well, and although he puts up a valiant fight, at last he too ends up dozing off right where he's reclining against the pillows. Whoops.]

[Then it was morning. He's still feeling tired and it looks like he fell asleep before he could heal his injuries. Bruises from yesterday are still there and he would heal them now if he knew why he was resting on Gai.

Impulsively he shoved him away. For a moment he thought he did something bad because Gai was still asleep. Now Shu feels ashamed at his own actions and tried to keep himself from overreacting.

What if Gai wakes up?

Shu wanted to be out of that room before he did.]

[But Gai just makes a slight sound at being shoved and doesn't awaken just yet-- a far cry from the way he normally is back at home, where he usually snaps awake in a second if something so much as touches him. For some reason, though, this time he just shifts and then settles back down, still fast asleep.]

[Shu totally expected Gai to wake up and flip something, but he didn't do that! Crisis averted.

Now to slip away from this disaster.

He doesn't even want to ask how he ended up sleeping there of all places.]

[You're the one who fell asleep on him, Shu. Don't blame him for this.

Shu may think he's about to make a clean getaway, but he won't get far before a voice that manages to be both stern and amused at once speaks up from behind him.]
