[He nuzzles her hair briefly before stepping back to allow her to turn around, taking advantage of the separation to untuck his shirt from his pants and make swift work of those last couple of buttons.]

It's the style, Gai. [She grins and turns around, immediately biting her lip as soon as she's facing away from him.]

Style is also responsible for straitjackets like the one you just helped me out of. Your point?

[But his tone is teasing; it's clear he isn't actually bothered about wearing the suit.

It's when he steps forward and raises his hands to begin his work on the buttons again that he notices it: that small, perfectly circular scar right over her spine. He's had enough experience with experimentation himself to know that mark is no accident, and for a moment he's seeing red. Someone experimented on her. Someone hurt her on purpose.

He has to take a slow breath to steady himself, to calm the rage that's quickly rising within him. But he won't say a word about it. This isn't the time or the place to dredge up memories like that. Tonight is a night for making Elizabeth feel good and happy and loved, and so he bites his lip and resumes his work on those buttons as if he'd never noticed it at all.]

[Elizabeth feels the pause, and it feels as though it goes on forever. It's the buttons, probably the buttons, the lighting is dim, there's no way he could see it...]

[...maybe...]

Do I have to count as you unbutton them, too? [She says, her joking tone a little forced. There's even a little laugh tacked on at the end.] So you don't lose track?

That might help. I think I just accidentally buttoned one again.

[Likewise, he keeps his tone light and joking, like he really hadn't seen it. Whatever that mark may be, he's not going to let it ruin the evening for them. The past is the past; it can stay buried for just one night.]

[Elizabeth actually laughs, because it's plausible. They're little crochet loops, it's easy to think one's unbuttoned when the loop is just wrapped around the button more.]

Alright, how many more are left?

[Give him a moment here to count.]

... five. It's just like I said, there are too many.

[Next time he is definitely going to see about helping her find something with a zipper instead...]

And like I said, it's the style. [Elizabeth smiles and closes her eyes.] Do two more and I can probably get out of it. Does that make you happy, Mr. Anti-Buttons?

[He's already back to fighting with those buttons even before she speaks.]

They don't have zippers yet in 1912, do they? Because I think I need to introduce you to those.

What's a 'zipper'? [She looks back over her shoulder with a frown.]

You'll see when I get to my pants.

[Three buttons, four buttons... five buttons! VICTORY!]

There, unless I managed to rebutton them all in the process.

Well, let's see.

[Elizabeth turns around, pulls the shoulders of the dress over her own and lets go. Just like she wanted, the dress slithers down her body in a satisfying rustle of silk and chiffon.]

[She's left standing in her corset, stockings, and drawers--she went without a chemise because she didn't have one that worked with the sheer section of the dress. But even if she's still incredibly clothed by modern standards, Elizabeth is blushing furiously.]

[Well, Gai is staring, but it probably isn't for the reason Elizabeth thinks. Okay, so a part of it is for that reason, but there's also a sort of deer in the headlights quality to his expression because what is all of that it doesn't look like any underwear he's ever encountered and oh my god how is he supposed to take that off?

That's... okay, that's a corset, because he recognizes it from pictures he's seen in books and from movies and such. Those... lace up the back, right? He thinks. Or do they have hooks?

He is so incredibly out of his element here. Any thoughts he's ever had about bras being difficult to remove pale in the face of this underwear monstrosity he is currently facing down.]

[Elizabeth fidgets a little under Gai's stare. She's starting to recognize Gai's various wide-eyed looks, and the longer this one goes on the more Elizabeth is sure Gai is scared of her underwear. It's probably incredibly different from whatever is worn in his time.]

[She sits on the edge of the bed and methodically unclips her stockings and slides them off one at a time.] It just needs a little loosening, then it comes open at the front. [She slides up onto the bed proper and turns her back to Gai again.] Do you want to, or should I...?

[He can FEEL his masculinity eroding the longer this staring contest of him versus the underwear continues. Something tells him that any attempts on his part to remove it would end with him fishing out one of his many knives and just making short work of the laces that way, so...]

It might be best if you handled it. I'll get my belt, unless you wanted to help with that too.

[Elizabeth laughs and rolls onto her hip so she can look at Gai.] Somehow I think you're getting the impression that this is as easy to remove as a belt is. [She reaches out a hand to him.]

I'll start it. You'll see how it works if I do, and it'll come off faster.

Actually, that was exactly why I said that you could handle it. I wouldn't even know where to start.

[But he takes that hand anyway, taking a seat on the bed next to her.]

And you put this thing on every day?

[Nooo don't make him try to do it, that thing is terrifying.]

Mostly. I don't if I'm not leaving my apartment. [She turns around and pulls on the ends of the laces. There are four of them, tied in a bow. The thing apparently has two laces--one from the top to her waist, the other from her hips to her waist. She fishes around behind her for a moment until she finds the next set of laced grommets and pulls a good amount of slack out. Her fingers travel downwards, loosening the bottom lace, distributing the slack.]

See? It's just like a shoe.

[MAN UP GAI.]

[Like a shoe. Okay, he can do this. So... find where they come out of the grommets, tug to loosen. Experimentally he mimics her actions on the next set of grommets with a gentleness that's almost surprising coming from him. (In reality, it's because he's still not sure quite what he's doing.)

He's starting to wonder how people back in her era ever managed to have sex, if it was such a production every time just to get the clothing off.]

Remind me to add "bra and panties" to the list of modern conveniences that I need to introduce you to.

There's nothing wrong with my corset. And it helps me slim down a little, and fit into nicer dresses. [She tries to sound playfully petulant, but she can feel Gai tugging at the laces. He's taking off what no one aside from her has taken off before. She bites her lip as she feels Gai's fingers move over her, gently tugging and pulling, loosening the garment on her.]

[It feels... erotic. Moreso than dropping her dress on the floor. She's secretly glad it's taking some time, Elizabeth is enjoying the feeling of Gai disrobing her.]

[So much so that when he touches the little scrap of skin under the lacing, Elizabeth lets out a excited sound.]

You are the last person who needs to worry about slimming down.

[It's probably a good thing that she can't see his face right now, because when she makes that noise (and oh, he likes that sound), his eyebrows go up as a smirk makes its way onto his face. He'd meant to behave himself, really he had, but now that it's clear that she's enjoying him touching her, he decides to risk being a bit bolder than he'd originally planned.

He starts out by just lightly resting his hands on her sides for a moment, giving her the chance to swat him away if she feels this is too much too soon. Then, once he's satisfied that she's okay with this, he slides them around to the front and then up, skimming over her body until he's gently cupping her breasts through the corset.]

Bras are like those bikinis you saw the women on the beach wearing. They support you like this without squeezing your waist or anything like that.

[Now he lowers his voice, leaning in to breathe warm against her ear.]

And they're a lot easier to get off.

[Elizabeth vaguely wonders why Gai isn't working at the laces anymore, but as far as she's concerned as long as he's still touching her all is right with the world. Even his hands trailing up her feels good, though she's wondering where his hands are going.]

[Until they come up over her breasts--then she's gasping, trying to press into the touch and keep her ear against Gai's mouth. Bras? What were they saying about bras? She can't even remember. The only thing running through her mind is that she wants Gai's hands on her skin. That would feel so much more amazing, she's sure of it.]

[And now Gai is faced with a dilemma-- keep his hands right where they are (which both of them seem to be enjoying, judging by the way she's pressing herself into his hands), or do what she says and finish getting that damned corset off. It's a difficult decision, and he allows himself a few seconds more of just touching before he can't stand it anymore and he moves his hands back around to those laces, his tugging not quite as gentle as it was before. Elizabeth isn't the only one who wants that corset off, that much is for sure.

But he allows himself a compromise, keeping his mouth right where it was as he works, dropping heated kisses on her neck right beneath her ear, trailing them slightly down her neck before moving back up to her ear and nipping gently at the lobe.]

[And while Gai continues to touch, Elizabeth can't bring herself to insist he go back to the laces. Absolutely no one has ever touched her like this, and Gai's hands are flipping some sort of switch in her. She can recognize arousal, though she's never felt it this keenly.]

[Elizabeth tilts her head to give Gai more room to get to her neck. She gives a pleased, shuddering sigh when she feels the laces loosen enough and with one practiced motion she pops the busk on the corset.]

[But she doesn't pull it away. She reaches back for one of Gai's hands, she wants him to do the honors.]

[Gai is all too happy to oblige her, sliding his hands around to fumble with the front of it for a moment, trying to get it undone and off with hands made clumsy from excitement and arousal. It takes a couple of tries, but at last he's able to get it open. And he isn't even waiting for her to remove it completely-- the moment there's enough of a gap for him to slide his hands inside, that's exactly what he's going to do, moving them back to the position they'd been in mere moments before.

But this time there's nothing separating them; his hands are warm and rough on her skin, just ghosting over it and letting her adjust to this more intimate contact before he starts really getting into things.
