[Elizabeth chases after Gai's lips, but also reminds herself that it didn't take long to get to the restaurant. It won't take long to get back. She's keeping up with Gai stride for stride, only stumbling once--apparently the heels she chose are more modern than Elizabeth is used to.]

Why 'for the record'? Do you think I'm about to make a mistake? [She grins and bumps her hip against Gai.]

[Oho, Gai likes that boldness, and he bumps his hip right back against hers. If this is how she's going to be acting for the rest of the evening, he's pretty sure he likes this. Not that he thought she'd be anything but, it's just nice to see it confirmed.]

I'd certainly hope not. This would be a terrible time to realize that I was a mistake. Usually people come to that realization at the very beginning.

[She stumbles again a little and retaliates with a playful smack to his shoulder.]

I've made plenty of mistakes before. I'm quite certain that this is not heading in the same direction. ...especially if you have more words like 'what I have right now' for me.

I was only telling the truth.

[His tone is honest, straightforward, though when she smacks his shoulder he responds by poking her in the ribs. They are the most mature, really.]

And if this is a mistake, it's the best mistake I've ever made in my life.

[She writhes and giggles at the poke, spinning out of Gai's arm around her waist. But then she's immediately latching onto his arm again.]

Me too. The best mistake. The most handsome, romantic mistake.

[As soon as she reattaches herself to his arm, he leans down just enough to press a kiss into her hair, resisting the urge to poke her and get her to giggle like that again.

Almost there, almost there...]

The most beautiful, clever, and enchanting mistake.

[She closes her eyes as he kisses her, and laces her fingers in between his.]

One I'd make over and over again...

I wouldn't change a single thing.

[He gives her hand a squeeze, slowing his pace just long enough to let this moment linger.]

Neither would I. [Elizabeth steps out in front of him, walking backwards while still holding his hand so she can keep her eyes on him.] The rave, the bar, the beach... it was all perfect.

[Gai's heart swells with joy to hear those words from her. To someone who has only played at the rituals of courting before and certainly never had any actual experience with love or romance or anything of the sort, hearing that he's apparently doing it exactly right fills him with happiness and relief. He may be confident, even bordering on arrogant at times, but this is a field that's brand-new to him.

But he's getting it right, and he's making her happy, and that's all that matters.]

I can't take credit for all of that. It was only perfect because you were there.

I could say the same. [Elizabeth casts a look over her shoulder, seeing the building coming up. She's seized with both impatience and a playful spark--and it looks like Elizabeth said the right thing there to make Gai happy. She turns back to Gai and grins.]

I think the next on the list is your place... and it's not perfect until we're both there.

[She turns around and makes a run for the building. And damn, she can book it in those heels.]

[Oh, things like this are exactly why he likes her. He's torn between being impressed by how fast she can run in those heels, just admiring the view from behind, and wanting to chase after here. He allows himself a second or so for the first one, a few seconds more for the second, and then at last he's giving chase, laughing as he does so.

So remember what he joked about earlier about how she wanted an excuse for him to pick her up and carry her? Well, this seems like a perfectly good excuse to him, so don't mind if he does just that.]

[She wasn't quite expecting that. Mostly because nobody's ever picked her up while she was running. But obviously Gai is fast--faster than her in unfamiliar shoes, clearly. She screams in glee, clings to Gai to make sure she doesn't fall out of his arms.]

Well you didn't let me get very far.

That was the plan.

[His hold on her is secure; she doesn't need to worry about falling or him losing his grip. This will pose a bit of an issue when it comes to the front door of the building, though, but he trusts that she can handle that and his apartment door with no trouble.

Afraid I'm going to run and hide from you? [She puts a kiss on the corner of Gai's mouth, one hand curling around his tie as they walk up the steps. Once they stop at the front door of the building, Elizabeth reaches down and opens it without even looking.]

[That is definitely a pleased noise that he makes when she grabs his tie. More forward than he'd been expecting, for sure, and now he's wondering just what other surprises she has in store for him tonight. Whatever they are, he's looking forward to them.

He's stepping through the door the instant she opens it, not even caring whether it's closed behind them or not.]

Now why would you want to do something like that?

[At least it's just a short walk down the hall to his apartment now...]

Thrill of the chase? [She nuzzles Gai's cheek, grinning agains his jaw.] I think it's called 'playing hard to get'...?

[Once they get to Gai's door she takes a quick look to see where the lock is in relation to her. Then she holds Gai's gaze and pulls a pin out of her hair, causing the elaborate style to fall out.]

I suppose you want me to open that...?

[When she nuzzles him, Gai turns his head so that he can murmur to her. The tone he's employing right now is almost as hot as his breath against her ear when he speaks.]

Unfortunately, I'm far too impatient for any sort of chase right now.

[Then, smirking, he kisses her cheek before he straightens back up, keeping his eyes locked on hers. While he's a little sad at the loss of that nice hairstyle, he has to admit that the more tousled look suits her just as well.]

If you don't mind. I would do it myself, but my hands are somewhat occupied.

[Elizabeth shudders under Gai's voice, realizing she's becoming far more sensitive than she's been before. She looks a little hazy for a moment before biting her lip and sliding the pin into the lock and jimmying it around for a moment. The lock clicks and Elizabeth pushes the door open.]

I like them occupied.

Don't worry-- I'll make sure to keep them occupied for the rest of the night.

[That look on her face is exactly the sort of thing he was going for. She's giving him the honor of her first time, so he wants to be damn sure he makes it worth it for her; the more relaxed and turned on he can get her before the actual thing happens, the better.

So focused is he on her that he kicks the door shut behind them a little harder than he intended, causing it to shut with a slamming sound that echoes down the hallway. Whoops, don't mind him.]

[Elizabeth jumps at the slam, clinging to Gai again. Though after a moment she laughs and rests her forehead on Gai's cheek.] Are you nervous too?

[Gai gives her an apologetic and slightly sheepish look as he pauses to just enjoy this closeness for a moment. Smooth move, Gai. Way to go.]

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't.

[Elizabeth makes a quiet assenting sound, then slides a hand around Gai's neck in a little hug.]

I can take some pain, but I'd like it if we could go slowly... if it's alright.

[When she does that, he takes the opportunity to lean down for a kiss. It's soft and loving, gentle rather than hungry, despite his body urging him to make it more. He wants to make this memorable for her in a way that doesn't involve pain, though he's not so naive as to think there won't be any at all.

At last he pulls back with a soft smile on his face.]

I promised that I'd make this worth it for you, and that's a promise I intend to keep. Don't worry... I'll take it so slowly that you'll be begging me to go faster.

[Is that a promise? That might be a promise.]

[Elizabeth laughs quietly, because she's imagining Gai unbuttoning her dress one button per minute--yes, that would be too slow.]

[She nods, initiating a brief, soft kiss of her own.] I think the first thing, before any begging happens, is you have to put me down so I can undress.
