[She rests her fork on her plate, thinking for a moment.] If you could have anything in the world, what would it be?

[Gai doesn't even have to think for five seconds about that one, not when the answer is right in front of him.]

What I have right now.

[Not exactly what Elizabeth was expecting, but it doesn't matter. The answer still nearly stops her heart. It could have been a line from anyone else but Gai. And he probably didn't think it would result in what Elizabeth says next:]

Do you... want to take the rest of this home? Get a, ah, box and go back...? To your apartment?

[Because those were the magic words, apparently.]

[That wasn't quite the expected result, no. Not that he's displeased with it at all-- it was going to come to this point eventually, but the fact that it's ELIZABETH who is the one impatient to take the next step makes him feel just that much more comfortable about this whole thing. He couldn't quite erase his concerns that maybe he'd pressured her into this somehow, or that she was still doing this because it was what she thought he wanted.

Seeing her genuine desire for this warms his heart... and maybe something a bit lower too. The best part is, he was being completely, 100% honest. This IS the happiest he's ever been in his life. As far as he's concerned, things can't get any better than this.]

For lunch tomorrow?

[Now he's REALLY smiling.]

Sounds like a plan to me. I'll flag down a waiter.

[To be honest, Elizabeth is also a little surprised by the decision. But the answer Gai gave is one of the most honest, romantic things Elizabeth has ever heard said about her. She would have followed Gai off a cliff at that point, following him to his bed was nothing. Strike while the iron is hot, Elizabeth had to make the move while she had the courage and the burst of emotion behind it.]

[She nods, shifting in her seat a little. She's never wanted to kiss Gai so badly before.]

[Fortunately, there are no cliffs in Gai's plans tonight. There is, however, a bed, and plenty of things to be done on that bed, and it's that thought that leads him to almost jump out of his chair to snag the next passing waiter and ask for doggie bags for the remainder of their meal.

Judging by how he too seems on the antsy side, Elizabeth isn't the only one who wants to get out of here and to a more private place for things like kissing.

... screw it, he's going to lean across the table to kiss her anyway. He just can't resist that urge.]

[And Elizabeth presses right into it, more eager than she's ever been before. There's tongue, immediate tongue, and Elizabeth only breaks away when she realizes the waiter is standing there with the boxes.]

[Completely red in the face, she nervously pushes her napkin at Gai--he's got lipstick on his mouth.] S-sorry...

[... and judging from the grin that is currently on his face, he doesn't even care. But he does take that napkin to wipe it off before he takes the boxes from that poor waiter with a mischievous smirk. That's right, he's on a date with an incredible girl, and he doesn't give a damn if the entirety of the restaurant knows about it.

Let them think what they want; he's got far more important things on his mind right now.]

Are you ready?

[Elizabeth, however, looks appropriately apologetic--little half-smile and everything. But once Gai has the boxes, she's downing the last of her wine and out of her chair.]

Yes, let's go. [She looks flushed and excited.]

[He's quick to slip his arm around her and lean in for another brief kiss once she's standing. It takes a considerable amount of self-control to limit it to just that, though-- self-control and the knowledge that it's just a short walk back to the apartment. Silently he gives thanks that he'd decided on one of the buildings closest to the plaza, because if they'd had to walk all the way to one of the more distant community housing buildings after this, chances are they wouldn't have made it there.

The boxes are kind of a pain to carry, but he can put up with it for a few minutes. Hopefully she doesn't mind walking somewhat fast...]

For the record, the wine was your idea, not mine.

[Elizabeth chases after Gai's lips, but also reminds herself that it didn't take long to get to the restaurant. It won't take long to get back. She's keeping up with Gai stride for stride, only stumbling once--apparently the heels she chose are more modern than Elizabeth is used to.]

Why 'for the record'? Do you think I'm about to make a mistake? [She grins and bumps her hip against Gai.]

[Oho, Gai likes that boldness, and he bumps his hip right back against hers. If this is how she's going to be acting for the rest of the evening, he's pretty sure he likes this. Not that he thought she'd be anything but, it's just nice to see it confirmed.]

I'd certainly hope not. This would be a terrible time to realize that I was a mistake. Usually people come to that realization at the very beginning.

[She stumbles again a little and retaliates with a playful smack to his shoulder.]

I've made plenty of mistakes before. I'm quite certain that this is not heading in the same direction. ...especially if you have more words like 'what I have right now' for me.

I was only telling the truth.

[His tone is honest, straightforward, though when she smacks his shoulder he responds by poking her in the ribs. They are the most mature, really.]

And if this is a mistake, it's the best mistake I've ever made in my life.

[She writhes and giggles at the poke, spinning out of Gai's arm around her waist. But then she's immediately latching onto his arm again.]

Me too. The best mistake. The most handsome, romantic mistake.

[As soon as she reattaches herself to his arm, he leans down just enough to press a kiss into her hair, resisting the urge to poke her and get her to giggle like that again.

Almost there, almost there...]

The most beautiful, clever, and enchanting mistake.

[She closes her eyes as he kisses her, and laces her fingers in between his.]

One I'd make over and over again...

I wouldn't change a single thing.

[He gives her hand a squeeze, slowing his pace just long enough to let this moment linger.]

Neither would I. [Elizabeth steps out in front of him, walking backwards while still holding his hand so she can keep her eyes on him.] The rave, the bar, the beach... it was all perfect.

[Gai's heart swells with joy to hear those words from her. To someone who has only played at the rituals of courting before and certainly never had any actual experience with love or romance or anything of the sort, hearing that he's apparently doing it exactly right fills him with happiness and relief. He may be confident, even bordering on arrogant at times, but this is a field that's brand-new to him.

But he's getting it right, and he's making her happy, and that's all that matters.]

I can't take credit for all of that. It was only perfect because you were there.

I could say the same. [Elizabeth casts a look over her shoulder, seeing the building coming up. She's seized with both impatience and a playful spark--and it looks like Elizabeth said the right thing there to make Gai happy. She turns back to Gai and grins.]

I think the next on the list is your place... and it's not perfect until we're both there.

[She turns around and makes a run for the building. And damn, she can book it in those heels.]

[Oh, things like this are exactly why he likes her. He's torn between being impressed by how fast she can run in those heels, just admiring the view from behind, and wanting to chase after here. He allows himself a second or so for the first one, a few seconds more for the second, and then at last he's giving chase, laughing as he does so.

So remember what he joked about earlier about how she wanted an excuse for him to pick her up and carry her? Well, this seems like a perfectly good excuse to him, so don't mind if he does just that.]

[She wasn't quite expecting that. Mostly because nobody's ever picked her up while she was running. But obviously Gai is fast--faster than her in unfamiliar shoes, clearly. She screams in glee, clings to Gai to make sure she doesn't fall out of his arms.]

Well you didn't let me get very far.

That was the plan.

[His hold on her is secure; she doesn't need to worry about falling or him losing his grip. This will pose a bit of an issue when it comes to the front door of the building, though, but he trusts that she can handle that and his apartment door with no trouble.

Afraid I'm going to run and hide from you? [She puts a kiss on the corner of Gai's mouth, one hand curling around his tie as they walk up the steps. Once they stop at the front door of the building, Elizabeth reaches down and opens it without even looking.]
